The Wall Paintings of Bangalore

The first thing that greeted me and drew my attention when I entered Bangalore were the paintings on the walls. The city looked beautiful and all of a sudden it was telling a story in it's own way. On a wall you may see maharajahs on elephants and voluptuous dancers reminding you of the pre-Mughal era, while on another picturesque landscapes of Karnataka have come alive. What an idea sirji! The gray walls of the city have come to life all of a sudden. These wall paintings speak of the local taste and culture, a pleasant surprise for tourists. I wish other cities would also take up such initiatives. Instead of painting walls with political slogans, beautiful paintings depicting the local art and culture would be a welcome change. Kolkata, are you listening?

Found some more pictures and info about these wall paintings on this blog http://www.mohanbn.com/wall-paints-beautifying-bangalore/ and a video at http://bbmp.gov.in/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=165&Itemid=200.

Sharing some pics I took in October last year on mobile camera.
