Whoosh...splashed the ice cold water on my face drenching me
from head to toe. I had imagined that I would stay away from the water as much
as possible, but that was all in my imagination. Reality check... me lying face
down on the edge of the raft looking down into the rapids. Yes I did that. It
was crazy! But how do I express the sensations in my mind and body as the raft kept
dipping into the rapids? Shall I say “mind-boggling”?
It was a feeling that I find hard to express in words. Even
today after about 2 weeks of coming back from the trip, whenever I close my
eyes, I feel as if transported to moments when I was on the raft cruising down
the Teesta gorge. The caves on the sides, the stories, the local rafting
instructors, Nepali songs, and our shrieks of excitement...it all starts coming
back to me in flashes, making me want to do it again and again. Wondering whether the journey was important or the feeling
of achievement all of us had?
I felt one with nature and closer to God.
